Ingredients
- 3 oz uncooked wild rice
- 3 oz uncooked brown rice
- 29-oz can diced tomatoes
- 44 oz vegetable broth
- 1/2 round tsp dry onion flakes
- 1/4 round tsp dry parsley
- 1/8 round tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 round tsp onion powder
- 1/2 round tsp dry ground turmeric
- 1/4 round tsp dry ground cumin
- 1/8 round tsp dry ground ginger
- 1/4 round tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 30-oz can black-eyed peas, drained
Directions
- In a large pot, mix all ingredients except black-eyed peas.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 25 minutes, or until rice is tender.
- Add black-eyed peas and heat till warm through.
- Serve warm.
Note
Traditionally eaten New Year's Day to bring good luck for the coming year.
